2000s

2001
In April the Queen and Prince Philip visited the Royal Pavilion as part of the granting of City status to Brighton and Hove. As their Rolls drove through the Gardens we were privileged to be able to watch from near the café. We celebrated our Diamond Jubilee in the Royal Pavilion Gardens. For the month of August we had music from Geoff Robb (classical guitarist), Children’s entertainment from Brian Eames Magic Rabbit and Donald Sellar with our friend John Henty.
2002
In May the Luminarium became a giant inflatable on the Pavilion lawn. Thousands flocked to see and listen inside this ultra large series of walk-in bouncy castles where they tried to create a sense of wonder through the phenomenon of luminous colour. Then followed in June the annual Co-Op day. This consisted of music and entertainment on the lawn and in the Corn Exchange. In July J. Williamson brought his touring company with Wayne Sleep performing open air Shakespeare on the lawn.
2003
Back came Shakespeare with Emily Lloyd after Tracy Shaw (Coronation Street) pulled out right at the last minute.
2004
The café held free Children’s entertainment in August on Pavilion Lawn. With Donald Sellar, Max the Magician and Jonathan Cann (Punch and Judy).

2005
Held Children’s charity Funday raising money for Leo House (Children’s Hospice) with tombola, raffle, face painting, clay making and entertainment. Planning of £1 million scheme for New Road. This will link the new Jubilee library area to the Royal Pavilion Estate, Theatre Royal and North Street.
